Long Buckby Hockey Club Expands Into Men’s League

The forthcoming 2009/10 season will see Long Buckby HC making the jump into men’s league hockey, when its newly formed men’s team will be playing in the MRHA Men’s 1st Team League.

The Club is over 100 years old and, until recently, was a ladies-only hockey club, playing in Long Buckby.  This all changed in 2001 when, with the help of a lottery grant, the Club restarted its junior section into which it welcomed both girls and boys.  Since then, as the Club has grown, it has created a boys development path which, in turn, has led to it being in a position to enter men’s league hockey. The Club is in its strongest position ever and now offers Ladies, Men’s and Mixed hockey based at the Astroturf pitch at William Parker School, Daventry.

Long Buckby Hockey Club is a family-orientated club offering hockey for all ages and abilities. It is also a friendly and well-run club providing affordable access to hockey.
